NanoBeasts Robotics Camp at Burr Ridge Middle School Sponsored by CCSD 180

Anna Frankel, 3rd Grade

I wish I could do it every day.
Anna’s dream robot:
A robot that does everything I ask
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
A hospital to do surgeries. A restaurant to get orders right. To do fossils and drill through it with tools.

Malachai Brewer, 6th Grade

What Malachi says about NanoBeasts robotics summer camp at CCSD180:
We learned how to build robots and how to program them. I learned there is more than one kind of robot. I learned how to use a remote to control a robot.
Malachi’s dream robot:
My dream robot is a robot that does all my homework.
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
Places that can be more efficient is at senior living, because they can take care of the seniors and give them medicine if they need it

Aidan Skendo, 3rd Grade

I liked the IR sensor because I can control my robot
I liked the color sensor too, because we can use ambient light, reflected light and color. I also like the motor sensor because it can fire out balls!
Aiden’s dream robot:
It can do whatever I ask him to do.
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
Hospitals, so it can help people with whatever they need help with.

Christian Janev, 3rd Grade

Yes, I like it because we programmed, we used IR sensor, we used shooting ball mechanism.
Christian’s dream robot:
A robot that can do my homework.
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
Pharmacies because the pharmacists might need help.

Jada Hyes, 3rd Grade

One thing I like the most about this class is that we get to build the robots, another thing that I like most about this class is that we play games (sometimes), the last thing I like about this class is that we can work with whoever I want to!
Jada’s dream robot:
A cleaning and helping robot
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
A hospital needs a delicate robot because if they make a mistake he/she can quickly fix it.

Dezire Golden, 6th grade

The things I love the most about the robotics workshop is that we got to program and build robots. Another thing, I like was that we got to play games with the robot that we build. The last thing I liked was that we experience something that others couldn’t, we got to wire the robots, it was cool and challenging.
Dezire’s dream robot:
A robot that cleans and does all my work for me.
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
Dezire thinks that hospitals and grocery stores will be more efficient if they use robots.
Hospitals: For surgeries and more patients can get help at a time
Grocery store: So, there would be more cashiers and stockers.

Aiden Perkins, 3rd Grade

It is fun educational and it teaches me about Legos and robots. I learned how to use motors, and wires and sensors and mechanisms.
AJ’s dream robot:
A robot that can fly
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
A hospital so robots can do delicate work.

Justine Sveiteris, 5th Grade

Yes, one thing I liked was learning how to program a robot using the brick and program. Another thing that I liked the most was making the machine gun (ball launcher mechanism). It was fun playing with it. The last thing I liked the best was this program. Anything was fun in it.
Justin’s dream robot:
The robot that can clean the house
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
Restaurants, because robots could make food faster or better or wash the dishes better.

Dziugas Meiliulis, 4th Grade

I liked the robotics workshop very good. Three of my favorite things there are: programming the Robot, building the robot and shooting balls.
Dziugas’s dream robot:
A robot that can help the army and can use weapons. It will help save lives.
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
Both army and hospitals. The robots will help save lives and the hospitals ones can work more efficiently.

Christine White, 5th Grade

I liked building robots, the most difficult was building on my own. I like that we got to race with each other. I also like that we had so much extra time to do programming.
Christine’s dream robot:
I want a robot that will clean my room while I do my homework.
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
Wendy’s because instead of drive-thru window to get your food, they can have 2 so that a human is at 1 of them and a robot is at the other one, and it will go faster.

Ethan Frankel, 5th Grade

We made a shooting ball mechanism. We had fun with it and played games with it.
Ethan’s dream robot:
My robot is a machine that will do as I told and will be programmed to make medical and everyday miracles (and doing my homework)
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
  • The doctor’s office to make sure humans don’t make mistakes.
  • The farms, to make sure milk and food grown there is fresh.
  • Construction sites that are too dangerous for humans to work at the place.
  • Cooking, so make sure there are no errors in the kitchen.

Lucia Seeber, 4th Grade

This camp is so cool, 1 thing I liked most about this camp is that we build a new robot every day, another thing I liked was that sometimes we built robots with no instructions. The final thing I liked is that I got a chance to work with new people and get to know them.
Lucia’s dream robot:
One that can teach me extra things.
Workplaces that can be more efficient using robots:
I think science lab so then the robot can test things. I think a fire department so that they can go where no human can.
